Start Today with A Glass of Water
Water plays an enormous role in the overall health of your body. It is recommended to drink 8, 8-ouce glasses every day to maintain proper functioning of the body. Drinking water first thing in the morning can help to purify your internal system which allows better absorption of nutrition from the foods you eat throughout the day.
Drinking water in the morning provides a number of benefits that include making your skin glow, renewed cells, balance of the lymph system, better digestion, weight loss and prevention of illness and disease.
The Plan:
Drink 2-4 glasses of water in the am. If you need some flavor, add a few berries or a squeeze of lemon.
Stretch it Out
After drinking 2-4 glasses of water, it’s time to relax and rejuvenate through stretching. Stretching in the morning can release muscle tension and lead to greater coordination and flexibility. It is also a good way to enhance your posture throughout the day.
The Plan:
You can find a variety of stretching methods and routines online. Find the best routine that suits your body’s needs. You can find some specific stretches for lower back here.
Think Happy Thoughts
Waking up to a ringing alarm after hitting the snooze button three times, rushing through the house to get everyone ready for soccer practice or school, with barely enough time to take a spoonful of soggy cereal – sounds like a pretty hectic morning. Unfortunately, this is the kind of morning we often have, right?
This next morning habit may cause a shift in your morning routine, but by waking up earlier to start the day at a slower pace will help you to reflect on the past day and set goals and purpose for the current day.
The Plan:
Wake up at a time that allows you to have 10-15 minutes to sit and reflect on the past day and current day.
Take a pen and paper and write down 3 answers to these questions,
What good happened yesterday?
What can I change to make today better?
What is one thing I am thankful for today?
